Fun Couples Workout July 4thThis July 4th, one of the best ways to make sure you don’t skip your exercises is to try a fun couples workout. Exercising with someone else makes the entire experience much more pleasant.

Taking part in a fun couples workout lets you spend time together and motivate each other. You can use each other as both resistance and support, which is much nicer than using furniture or a wall!

The following are some great exercises you can add to your own fun couples workout. If you aren’t sure whether or not an exercise is appropriate for your fitness level, be sure to speak with your doctor or a personal trainer.

Hook Squats – While you target your backsides, you’ll be motivating each other and supporting each other the whole time. To complete these, stand back to back and squat down together to take proper squat position. Your knees should be over your ankles. From that position, walk slowly in a clockwise circle. Once you’ve completed one full circle, count to twenty and go back the other way together. Complete three full sets.

Biceps and Triceps – As you target your biceps, triceps and shoulders, use this two-person resistance training . Face each other, standing about a foot apart. Keep your knees slightly bent. Have your partner hold either end of a towel. With your palms facing up, take hold of the towel in the middle. Have your partner create resistance with the towel as you complete a bicep curl this way. Keep your shoulders relaxed and your core tight. As you’re on your way down from the biceps curl, you create resistance so your partner can completes triceps extensions. Do 2 to 3 sets of 15 to 20 reps

Alternating box jump – This exercise will target your quads and hamstrings. Face your partner, placing a sturdy 6 to 10 inch box on the floor between you. Alternate jumping on and off the box in a squat position, taking turns. Be certain to land as lightly as you can both jumping up and down. If you need extra balance, lightly join hands with your partner. Each partner should complete 2 to 3 sets of 15 to 20 reps.
