Veggie chips are a healthier alternative to conventional greasy potato chips, so when you are craving a snack, you can reach for them without feeling as guilty. But if you can make veggie chips at home, you can really rest easy, knowing exactly what ingredients you are consuming. So check out the veggie chip recipes below to take another step towards a healthier body.
Sweet Potato Chips
Probably the most popular of all of the veggie chip recipes is sweet potato chips. After all, it’s closest to white potato chips but much healthier, and sweeter, too. Start by heating your oven to 375°, spraying a baking sheet with cooking spray, and slicing your potatoes into thin slices before placing them in a single layer on the baking sheet. Coat the slices with some more cooking spray and bake them for about 7 minutes. Turn them over and bake another 7 minutes. Coat them with a mix of ¼ teaspoon each of chili powder, salt, and sugar, and ½ teaspoon of cumin for an extra tasty treat.
Beet Chips
Super nutritious beets also make really tasty veggie chips, and all you need are three medium beets to get started. Heat your oven to 350° and peel your uncooked beets before cutting them into thin slices and tossing them in 1½ tablespoons of coconut oil and ¼ teaspoon of salt. Then simply spread the beet slices onto a baking sheet or two, making sure that they are placed in a single layer before baking them for roughly 15 minutes. Flip them over and bake them for another 15 minutes until crispy.
Kale Chips
Kale chips are super popular because they are as tasty as they are nutritious, and you can make them right at home. All you have to do is take a large bunch of kale, remove the stems, and tear the leaves up into big pieces after washing them. Heat your oven to 400° as you toss the kale with ¼ cup of olive oil and 1 tablespoon of smoked paprika. After lining a baking sheet with some parchment paper, you can then scatter the kale on top. Roast the kale for about a half hour, tossing in 10-minute intervals to ensure the chips are evenly crispy. Before serving, add some salt.
