It happens to us all. We are working out so hard and eating foods that are great for the body, but we just stopped losing weight. This is a weight loss plateau that is going to ruin your motivation and make you feel like a failure. While these are stressful times that are going to make you bang your head against a wall, there are a few things that are going to make this plateau worse than ever. Here are some of the things that you should never do when you hit a weight loss plateau.
Give up
Many people who hit a plateau end up giving up on all their hard work. They figure that they will never lose weight and that it’s just not worth their time. During this time you just need to work a bit harder for a bit longer. Add in another 10 minute workout, try out something new that intrigues you, or spend a bit of extra time at the gym. This will catch up to you and soon you will be out of that weight loss plateau.
Keep doing the same thing
Your body is really good at learning how to do one activity and it can become really efficient at it. When you hit this plateau, it is a good idea to switch things up. Try out a new exercise or get outside and try something new. If you stay at home and keep doing the same workout over and over again, you will never see any weight loss again and you can become even more frustrated.
Go back to old habits
A weight loss plateau is not a time to give up and say you are no good. Rather, it is a time when you need to take a look at your work and your goals and make the changes necessary. It is a time when you need to try even harder than before, even just for a little while, so that the weight keeps coming off. Once you get out of this short little dip, things will get easier again and you will look amazing. However, you should never go back to the old eating habits and sitting around. Instead, find some things that seem like fun to work on and keep pushing towards the body and weight loss results that you want.
